Rivio B2B Registration Forms can automatically create a Shopify Customer when an application is approved. If the customer is not created after approval, the issue may be related to the approval workflow, customer creation settings, or the information submitted by the applicant.
Follow the steps below to identify and resolve common customer creation issues.
Check Customer Creation Settings
First, make sure automatic Shopify Customer creation is enabled.
- Open Rivio B2B Registration Forms from your Shopify Admin.
- Go to Settings.
- Find the Shopify Customer or customer creation settings.
- Make sure Create Shopify Customer Automatically is enabled.
- Save the settings if you make any changes.
This allows the app to create a Shopify Customer when the application meets the configured approval conditions.
Make Sure the Application Is Approved
Shopify Customer creation may be triggered when an application is approved.
To check the application:
- Go to Submissions.
- Find the applicant's submission.
- Open the application.
- Check its status.
- Make sure the application has been Approved.
If the application is still Pending or has been Rejected, the Shopify Customer may not be created.
Check the Applicant's Email Address
A valid email address is important when creating a Shopify Customer.
Review the submitted application and make sure:
- The email address is provided.
- The email address is valid.
- There are no unnecessary spaces or typing errors.
- The applicant has not already been created as a Shopify Customer with the same email address.
Check for an Existing Customer
If the applicant already has a Shopify Customer account using the same email address, the app may not create another customer record.
Search for the applicant in:
Shopify Admin → Customers
Search using the applicant's email address and check whether a customer already exists.
Check the Approval Workflow
If you are using Auto-approve rules, review the rules configured for the form.
Make sure the application is actually being approved according to your configured workflow.
For manual approval, confirm that you have selected Approve for the application.
Review the Application Details
Open the submitted application and make sure the information required for Shopify Customer creation has been provided correctly.
Check important information such as:
- First name
- Last name
- Email address
- Phone number
- Address information
Missing or invalid information may prevent the customer record from being created correctly.
Check the Application Status After Approval
After approving an application, review the submission again and check whether the Shopify Customer creation process has completed.
If the application shows as approved but no customer is available in Shopify, continue with the troubleshooting steps below.
Test With a New Application
To determine whether the issue affects a specific application or all applications:
- Submit a new test application using a different email address.
- Approve the test application.
- Go to Shopify Admin → Customers.
- Search for the test customer's email address.
- Check whether the customer was created.
If the test customer is created successfully, the issue may be related to the original application's information or an existing customer record.
Contact Support
If a Shopify Customer is still not created after checking the above settings, contact the Rivio B2B Registration Forms support team.
Provide:
- Your Shopify store URL
- The affected application
- The applicant's email address
- The application's status
- Whether automatic customer creation is enabled
- A screenshot of the application, if available
- Any error message displayed
This information can help the support team investigate the issue more quickly.
Summary
If a Shopify Customer is not created, first make sure automatic customer creation is enabled and that the application has been approved. Then check the applicant's email address, existing Shopify Customers, approval workflow, and submitted information.
If the issue continues, test the process with a new application and contact support with the relevant details.
